While the true origins of the Manhattan cocktail are somewhat unknown, one of the earliest recorded Manhattan recipes calls for ‘American Whiskey.’ This recipe was from a time when rye was king, therefore the author was most likely referring to rye whiskey. The rye-forward profile of Redemption Rye pairs beautifully with the herbaceous vermouth this cocktail requires.
Ingredients
- 2 parts Redemption Rye Whiskey
- 1 part Sweet Vermouth
- 2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Directions
- Stir all ingredients with ice
- Strain neat into a coupe glass
- Garnish with cherries
